Floorcloth Care and Maintenance

Maintenance: Floorcloths are very durable and easy to care for. Routine maintenance involves cleaning off surface dirt with a broom or vacuum, then mopping with mild detergent, such as Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds. Do not use bleach or ammonia-based spray cleaners, as these can dull the finish on your floorcloth. Spills are easily cleaned with a damp cloth or a mop. Ground-in dirt can be cleaned using the scratchy side of a light duty sponge. An occasional coat of paste wax helps maintain the sheen and protect the finish of your floorcloth. When cleaning under your floorcloth, either lift the corners and sweep under them or roll the floorcloth and stand it on its end. Never fold or crease a floorcloth, as this may cause the finish to crack.

Installation: Install the floorcloth on a flat hard flooring surface, such as wood, tile, linoleum, or concrete. The floorcloth will take on the shape of the floor beneath it, so be sure the surface is free of deep cracks or seams. Clean the floor thoroughly prior to installation to insure it is clear of debris such as pebbles or twigs. Do not use floorcloths on carpeting or rugs, as floorcloths can become punctured or dimpled when placed on soft surfaces. When placing furniture on the floorcloth, use foot protectors or felt pads to protect your floorcloth’s finish. If you need to store the floorcloth, store it flat or roll it…do not fold it, as folding can cause the finish to crease and/or crack.

I don’t usually think of durability when I think of art, but this splatmat really is both. True high quality. Thanks, Gina. It’s absolutely perfect.
