“It is GORGEOUS…just GORGEOUS. Better than anticipated. The photographs did not do it justice. The texture is way more smooth and even than I expected as well. You did an outstanding job and should be proud of yourself. I know we are. It is and will be displayed with mucho pride. We placed it so that is is readily visable as soon as you walk into the room.”
—James and Jen S. regarding a 4’x6’ floorcloth with a Mexican Folk Art theme that they commissioned for their home in Washington state, June 2005.

Classic Nautical Star   “'40s Floral.” Click for a detail image you can drag.   Floral Placemats. Click for a larger image that you can drag.
This floorcloth measures 8’x8’. Rodney Acton, owner of Salon Mir in downtown Columbia, MO, commissioned this floorcloth for his shampoo room when he redecorated his salon in a late 1930s boudoir style. Commissioned piece, not for sale. The design for this 4’x6’ floorcloth was inspired by a chintz upholstery fabric design from the 1940s. The background is a multilayered faux finish, which includes sponging, ragging on and ragging off techniques. The flower was sponged over with gold and various shades of pink and the leaves were painted using a wet brushnig technique. The faux finishes combined with the burnished gold border give this floorcloth a touch of sophistication. This piece is currently available for $975. The design for these placemats was inspired by vintage wallpaper. To make these, I painted one large canvas, then I cut it into six placemats. You can put the placemats together like a puzzle to see the original picture. They add interest to the table because they are not all exactly alike but are pieces of a larger design. These placemats measure 14”x19”.

“Grand Couteau” “Lost in Italy”
“Grand Couteau.” Click for larger image that you can drag.   “Lost in Italy.” Click for a detail image that you can drag.
This is the first floorcloth I was commissioned to make. It measures 6’x9’. The floral pattern is taken from a tile design in a Catholic church in Grand Couteau, LA. It is a duplicate of a floorcloth the homeowners had had since the early eighties; the original had been damaged in a flood. The colors were modified to match their new decor. It is not for sale. This floorcloth was inspired by a photograph my friend, Maria, took during her travels in Italy. I was struck by its peaceful feel and the beautiful deep blues and greens. I thought it would make an interesting floorcloth, because the floor is the last place one would expect to see something like this. It is currently in a private residence in Texas, where is lies on the white marble floor of the home’s entryway. Not for sale.

“Dude’s Skull.” Click for a detail image that you can drag.   “’50s Grill.” Click for a detail image you can drag.   “Travelling.” Click for a detail image that you can drag.
My friends, Dude and Miss Jen, commissioned this piece for a room in their new home. A fan of body art, Dude found the basic skull design in a tattoo book and modified it. Using a hand colored xerox of the skull and a verbal description of the room’s colors and wall art, I designed the floorcloth to fit their space. It measures 4’x6’. Commissioned for a private residence in Seattle, Washington, this piece is not for sale. This 2’6”x3’6” floorcloth design was inspired by a table cloth from the 1950s. I really liked the bright colors and whimisical design, which translated well for the floor. The woman who bought this piece said it reminded her of linoleum in her grandmother’s kitchen. Private residence, St. Louis, MO. This floorcloth measures 2’6”X3’6’. It was a commission for a couple celebrating their 15th anniversary. They love to travel and chose symbols that hold significance in their lives together. We decided on a design that incorporated a worn leather look background to represent an old suitcase, a map of the world, and their symbols painted to look like travel stickers. Private residence in Columbia, MO. Not for sale.
